Happy Holidays!

Happy holidays!

This is my last blog post of 2025.

We always turn off our computers and turn on the festive away message over the holidays.

And here’s a quick reminder/refresh of what we’ve done this year.

I’m still needing to focus on my health, so I have continued to work locally, part-time, and slowly, but I’m very happy to share that I have been writing a new book. More on that in 2026!

I’m still chatting to lots of people about my most recent book, Plus Size Pregnancy: what the evidence says about higher BMI and birth. I’ve been delighted to hear from so many of you about how much this is helping you and those you care for.

I chatted to Debra Pascali-Bonero on her podcast about risk, my work on induction, and Plus Size Pregnancy: what the evidence says about higher BMI and birth. If you’re looking for something to read or listen to over the holidays, we have a page where you can listen to all of the podcasts that I’ve been on, and a post to help those of you who want to see all the different ways you can buy my books.

I also wrote new blog posts on the Big Baby Trialprobiotics and group B strepreasons to question restrictions on birth pools for women with a higher BMIthe trouble with guidelinesmicrobiome seeding, and why skin to skin should be standard care

Just as importantly, I have revised, added to, or updated many other blog posts, so they are up-to-date for you and those you care for. Click here to see all my posts.

As usual, we kept tens of thousands of midwives, doctors, birth workers, women and families updated through our emails and social media. I’m doing less and less on social media each year, but my Instagram account is probably the best way to see my updates if you’d like to keep in touch that way.

I’m always delighted to know that books like In Your Own Time, Anti-D Explained, Group B Strep Explained, Inducing Labour: making informed decisions, Vitamin K and the Newborn, What’s Right For Me? and my newest release, Plus Size Pregnancy: what the evidence says about higher BMI and birth are helping so many women and families to make the decisions that are right for them.

We love seeing your pics of my books being read around the world on Instagram!

And we had an amazingly busy last season of running our Etsy shop, which has now closed for good. I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has shopped there over the years, and helped support the Birth Information Project. You can still support us by buying the project a coffee, which will help support this website and enable me to keep some of my work freely available.

Here’s wishing you a fabulous festive season, and many thanks again for connecting with us this year and for caring as much about women, families, babies, and birth as we do.

We’re having a break over the winter and won’t be looking at email, engaging on social media or blogging until next year. Thanks for your patience and understanding, and we hope you have a really lovely festive season! – Sara and Chris x
