How to buy Sara Wickham books worldwide: top tips

A few weeks ago, after we sent our email about my Anti-D (RhoGAM) resources and book, we received a lovely email from Emma.

We’re quoting Emma’s words with her full knowledge and consent, of course, because consent is VERY important to us.

Here’s a bit of what Emma wrote:

Hello Sara,

Thank you SO much for sending out this email. I have been looking for your book for over a year now with no success and I was finally able to purchase it on the The Great British Book Shop and have it sent to my home in the United States.

Well, we were delighted to hear that, of course!

But Emma’s words were also a really helpful reminder that it isn’t always easy for people to get the books they want, so here are our top tips to help you buy my books, no matter where you are in the world.

1. Visit The Great British Bookshop

Our top tip is to visit the Great British Book Shop.

We work with a lovely printing/publishing company here in the UK, and they have a store front from which you can buy my books and have them sent anywhere in the world.

See all of my books in their online shop here.

Some lovely people ask me where they should buy my books to maximise what I get paid per book.

The Great British Book Shop is the answer to that question too.

And you’ll be supporting a small British company which supports small publishers and independent authors as well as having fab green credentials, including environmentally friendly printing. Thank you!

2. Check out the links on our book pages

If that doesn’t work for you, or you already have a preferred retailer, check out the links on our book pages.

Each of my recent books has a page of its own, and each of those pages contains multiple links to the different places where you can buy my books online, in paperback or ebook. We know that some people love the orange shop, while others do whatever they can to avoid it, so we want to offer a range of options.

Here’s a handy list, or just scroll to the bottom of this page, because we include a gallery and links to my most popular books on almost every page of this site, and in most of our emails too.

3. Take the ISBN to your local indie book shop

We love local bookshops, and we include the ISBN – or International Standard Book Number – of each of my books on its page for those who want to support theirs.

The IBSN will allow any book shop in the world to identify and order in my books for you.

To make it even easier, here’s a handy list of ISBNs for my most recent books.

Thank you for buying books

I’m really grateful to those of you who buy and recommend my books. Thank you.

I’m even more grateful to those of you who understand that the ‘lending library culture’ in the birth world is harmful. Lending books within a business or professional context can be illegal, because renting or lending a book is a restricted act under copyright law. More importantly, it prevents authors and creators like myself from earning royalties and thus being able to make a living and produce more content.

Buying and recommending my books is the single most useful thing you can do to support my work and help me keep going.

And, if someone really can’t afford to buy a book, just direct them to a public library. Many can now be accessed online. When a book is borrowed from a legal, public library, the public lending right system of reimbursement means that authors still get paid for their time and work.

I hope these tips help you to be able to get my books in whichever way works best for you.
