A break for crafting and self-care…

As this post goes live, I will be at the CAPERS Passage to Motherhood conference in Brisbane, Australia, and I rather hope that I will be spending a bit of my time in the red tent crafting area which is one of my favourite aspects of the Passage to Motherhood conference experience!

Craft is, for me, a form of self-care. It gives me the chance to be creative and the space to reflect in an often busy world. I like the notion of craftivism, and the idea that CB and I can change the world a bit and make people smile as well as funding some of our voluntary work by sewing velvet vaginas and birthkit purses and creating mug art.

Before I go away on our trips, I pack a bag with supplies so that I can craft while flying, while waiting in airports, while CB is driving and when I’m listening to others speak at conferences. This trip, I’ve been making catnip mice, some for kitty friends and some for lonely cats who are waiting to be rehomed. If you’d like to make some of your own, then I’ve used this pattern and this pattern, and I’ve also tried some catnip bunnies!

So what I’m wondering is … what are you crafting, sowing/sewing or otherwise creating right now?
