Hooray; the updated fourth edition of Birthing Your Placenta: the third stage of labour is now available! And if that’s not enough news for one day, we are also launching a brand-new online course on the same topic – Birthing the Placenta – and will be mailing a complimentary paperback copy of the new book to all course participants, no matter where you live in the world!
Let’s start with the book! This is the fourth edition of a popular book written by Nadine Edwards and Sara Wickham to help parents, professionals and others to understand the process and the evidence relating to the birth of the placenta. We examine the different options, detail the evidence relating to each and discuss the wider context in which these decisions are made. No matter what kind of birth you are hoping for (or if you’re a birth professional wanting to understand more deeply or update yourself on the latest evidence) this book will help you understand the issues and options.
The book is available from good bookstores or you can buy it online from Amazon UK, USA, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Japan, Brazil, Canada, Mexico and India. It’s also available as an e-book if you prefer. or read on to find out how our new course participants will be getting a complimentary paperback copy!
A new online course!
We’re also delighted to be launching a brand new online course: Birthing the Placenta, which will run from October 19-26 (with two weeks of extra time afterwards in case you need to catch up or want to revisit elements). And all participants in the first run of this course will receive a free copy of the book mailed anywhere in the world! We know that this course is going to be popular even without that offer, so please be aware that, as with all our online courses, the number of places is limited to ensure individual attention – don’t leave it too long if you want to join us! This will be the only run of this course in 2018.
Birthing the Placenta is an online course designed to help midwives and other birth professionals better understand and get updated on the evidence relating to the birth of the placenta. We’ll set the scene, discuss the very latest evidence, consider and debate the wider issues and share tips on facilitating both physiological and actively managed placental birth for those in practice. One of the key aims, as with all our online courses, is for you to become more confident with the evidence, and you’ll be able to deepen your understanding and discuss and debate the issues in a safe and private space with like-minded, woman-centred colleagues from around the world. The course includes videos, podcasts, tons of written resources and a live webinar (which is also recorded in case you can’t make it on the day), all facilitated by Sara Wickham, who will be engaged in the discussions and available to chat and answer questions during the facilitated week of the course.
You can find out more about our Birthing the Placenta course here, and we look forward to welcoming you. We’re also running our popular Gathering in the Knowledge online course this Autumn (or Spring down under!) as well, and that will run from October 5-12 and from November 16-23. We hope to see you there!
